Proposed biodiesel mandate has Iowans' support, poll finds

The Iowa Biodiesel Board has unveiled a poll showing that 66 percent of 500 respondents surveyed in December by Moore Information Opinion Research said they would support a bill requiring that all diesel fuel sold in Iowa contain at least 5 percent biodiesel.

Eighteen percent say they don't know enough about the issue and 16 percent are opposed.

Of course, the sample that really counts is the 100 members of the Iowa House of Representatives, whose approval is needed to go along with the approval of the plan last year by the Senate. Proponents hope to wedge the B5 bill in between the various budget skirmishes this session.
