Brazilian Bioethanol Science and Technology Laboratory Opens; To Focus on Sugarcane Ethanol and Advanced Biofuels Research

Brazilian president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva will unveil this Friday the Brazilian Bioethanol Science and Technology National Laboratory, in Campinas, São Paulo State.
The new research center represents a strategic move by the Brazilian Government toward strengthening the country’s leadership in sustainable production of ethanol from sugar cane and fostering innovation in clean energy.
Employing 50 professionals and an initial investment of around US$ 40 million, research programs will focus on areas such as sustainability, industry, agriculture, sugarcane virtual biorefinerie and basic science, including the development of second generation biofuels.
